Brookhaven Junior Golf Academy

Information and Hat Testing Parameters

Testing will be performed during class time. Each month, we will have a testing class for the kids to get on the course to play for their hat level.  Competition is the best way to test the skills you have obtained in class.  This is a great way for the kids to become a better golfer not just skill oriented but SCOR-IENTED.  The true test of ones ability is to perform under pressure

Additional SNEAD / HOGAN / NELSON Scoring Requirements:

There will be a rotation of 4 testing rounds. A testing round is defined as five holes played. Once they have turned in testing score #5, the 1st score drops off.

  • The low two scores of the four most recent rounds determines their promotion
  • Example Student A Testing Scores –
  • Round 1 = 3+5+6+5+5 = 24
  • Round 2 = 3+3+8+8+5= 27
  • Round 3 = 5+5+6+5+7= 28
  • Round 4 = 8+7+3+3+8=29
  • Round 5 = 5+4+5+3+5= 22
  • According to the scoring charts on page 1, the student above is an Orange hat. The Green Hat Score 24 gets dropped off. The Student above did score an orange score (32 or better) in the most recent 4 testing rounds. Now that the student has shot another 22, he/she has 3 more rounds to complete their requirements to become a Green Hat.
  • There are instances that we only get 3 holes in due to weather, visibility or time. In that case, they next testing sessions will just continue the previous unfinished set of scores.
  •

Additional PERFORMANCE Level Testing Requirements:

There will be a rotation of 3 testing scores - once they have turned in testing score #4 then the 1st score drops off.

  • The player needs to shoot the score required in 2 out of the most recent 3 rounds
  • Every 9 holes counts as a Testing Score Round
  • Kids can test at any point they like, as long as they complete the following:
  • Get the group approved by the instructional staff
  • They walk and carry/push their own bag
  • Complete 9 holes only – we will not accept partial rounds
  • Play in tournaments and meet the requirements above
  • Tournaments scores must be from a minimum distance of Bronze 2100 yards, Silver 2300 yards, Black 2500 yards.
